Me Without Measure Foundation
The Eating Disorder Education Organization of Edmonton is a non-profit human rights organization celebrating human diversity. Their primary objective is to increase the awareness of eating disorders and their prevalence throughout society. Accordingly, their mission is to encourage people to develop a positive self image based on ability and personality rather than just physical appearance and to understand that weight is not a measure of self worth.
Me Without Measure also offers support groups in Edmonton, free of charge.
Effective Meal Support
Mealtimes can be extremely tense and emotional, both for youth suffering from eating disorders and for their families. This DVD (based on the experience of patients and their caregivers at the Eating Disorders Program at BC Children's Hospital) is a "how-to" on providing meal support before, during, and immediately after meals and snacks. Useful for families who are welcoming their children home after intensive or day treatment, or who simply want to support a child who is struggling.
