Discussion Forum Instructions

Hopewell's Discussion Forum has three parts:

  • Groups
  • Discussion Posts (or topics)
  • Comments on Discussions

Groups

Currently, there is only one group, for Family members (parents, partners and siblings) of individuals affected by eating disorders. In the future we plan to offer a group discussion for individuals.  This Forum has been constructed using a system call Drupal's Organic Groups module, which is very powerful and has many features.

Discussion Posts (topics)

Registered Hopewell users can post discussions (these are traditionally known as topics in the forum world). When you attempt to post a discussion topic, you will be prompted to register as a user on this site. Please be aware that all your personal information is kept confidential, except for your Username, which will be visible to other members of the group.

Currently, posts can only be made related to the Family Group. When you post your discussion topic, be sure to include a title, body and indicate what category the topic falls under. If you are unsure, you can select "none" as your category, and the topic will still be posted.

Comments on Discussions

Anyone can post a comment on a discussion post. Un-registered users can post comments, but the moderator of the website will approve the comment before it is posted on the website. Registered users' comments are posted immediately, however, the moderator reserves the right to delete any inappropriate comment. Users also have the option to "report inappropriate post" if they feel the language or material is offensive in any way.

Comments must be approved in order to prevent spambots and 'un-verified' people from posting inappropriate content.

Discussion Categories

Hopewell has created 4 different Family Group discussion categories. You are also able to post a topic that is unrelated to these categories. We welcome any suggestions for new categories or changes to these existing categories:

  • Issues and tips
  • Navigating the health system
  • Advocacy and recommendations
  • Having a bad day

Subscribe to Posts

You can subscribe to receive comments about a specific discussion topic, and regular emails will be fowarded to you everytime someone posts a new comment. You can also choose to subscribe to posts made by another User.

Only the administrator/moderator has the ability to subscribe a user to each new discussion topic.
